Develop parameters for the adaptive reuse of older buildings and create resources that explain the challenges and opportunities for adaptive reuse of structure with the update of the International Building Code. The International Existing Building Code (IEBC) contains provisions that allow the reused of older buildings and provide exceptions that are not allowed in new construction.,

City adopted the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) in 2021.

This code describes the minimum of code compliance for the reuse of existing structures. The 2024 IEBC will be adopted in 2025, date to be determined.
