1st Amendment to Southeast Longmont urban renewal plan providing for utilization of Tax Increment Funds to pursue public/private partnership opportunities relative development within the blighted area.

Description

The SE Longmont URP, prepared in 2006, covers a City designated urban renewal area of about 405 acres bounded generally by 2nd Ave., 119th St., St. Vrain Creek, and S. Pratt Pkwy. The Plan lays forth the foundation for improvements and funding to eliminate blight and enhance the fiscal viability of the area. Staff is in the process of amending the plan to initiate the first tax increment area to allow for the capture of forthcoming incremental tax revenues (TIF) from new development occurring at 2nd Avenue and Martin Street. The TIF collections will assist in remediating and restoring the Longmont Sugar Factory buildings to functional, adaptive reuse. The plan is due to be submitted for approval the 1st Qtr. 2025. Other amendments will be completed as needed to initiate additional TIF districts.
