Description
March 2025: New lane lines and a reel arrived and were installed before opening day.
May 2025: Opening day was delayed by five days because of mechanical problems and cold weather. Sunset Pool opened on May 27.
Mechanical Issues:
- The pool was filled and circulating by May 8, but leaks were found in the pump room.
- That night, the pool was partly drained and circulation was turned off to prevent damage.
- On May 9, a power outage shut off the sump pumps that were controlling the leak, which caused the pump room to flood.
- Luckily, only the main recirculation motor was damaged. The boiler was not affected.
- A leak detection team found a cracked pipe with a piece of a goggle stuck inside. They removed the goggle and sealed the pipe with epoxy. This stopped most of the leaking. Some small leaks remain, but the pool is safe to use.
Repairs & Equipment:
- A new recirculation pump and motor were installed from storage.
- The domestic hot water heater broke after two weeks. A new high-efficiency unit was installed within 10 days and works well.
June 2025:
The front gate at Sunset Pool was repaired. The waterslide passed its annual inspection. New picnic tables were built and placed for public use.
July 2025:
The water auto-fill controller was rebuilt to improve pool maintenance.
October 2025:
A new electrical panel was installed to better support the upgraded pump and motor.
