In order to incentivize building reuse and reduce the amount of waste from deconstruction ending up in landfills, a waste incentive program for construction and demolition materials and/or activities is the focus of this strategy.

2026 update, City Council has instructed sustainability staff to proceed forward with construction and deconstruction (C&D) policy planning and mapping. C&D guidance and timelines to be given by City Council.
