As the City designs its programs and policies to support electrification in the private market, it will consider the downstream effects on current tenants and lead with equitable housing or antidisplacement policies.

Description

City staff are actively researching best practices and policies that minimize the likelihood that electrification upgrades cause increased rents or displacement. As examples emerge from other jurisdictions, City staff are vetting them with City legal staff and stakeholders in order to have sound program tools and agreements that protect households and make appropriate changes to current City policies.
