Enhance Longmont's preparedness regarding flooding through public awareness campaigns.

Description

Staff continues to develop new resources for flooding mitigation and preparedness. Including the creation of a residential excess runoff handout and hosting multiple Be Ready Longmont events throughout the community. The Community Rating System (CRS) 5-year Cycle Verification for the voluntary FEMA incentive program for floodplain management was completed in September 2022. Final results indicate the City will remain a Class 5 Community which provides a 25% discount on flood insurance premiums to anyone within the City’s jurisdiction. The Longmont: Be Flood Ready brochure is complete. It was sent to all properties in the Preliminary FIRM 1% chance (100-year) floodplain within the City's Jurisdiction. This updated publication will be sent out yearly to the properties that are still within the 1% chance (100-year) floodplain. that list will change as more RSVP and other flood control projects are completed.
