Preliminary data gathering has been completed to establish baseline commuter patterns. Staff relies on our partner agencies to determine the best methods for transportation demand management.
Description
Education and data collection is led by partner agencies Smart Commute and Commuting Solutions. However a citywide Longmont specific campaign has not yet been pursued. In 2025 the Longmont City Council approved the Longmont Transportation Mobility Plan which establishes a framework and priority for the development of all transportation modes with an emphasis on walking, bicycling and transit. In 2026, the City was awarded a grant by the Colorado Energy Office to develop a TDM policy. Once adopted, the result of the TDM Policy will be to reduce single occupancy vehicle travel through a variety of means to include Alternative Work Schedules. Presently, the City of Longmont has a flexible work-space policy in place for its own employees which encourages teleworking.
