Lead paragraph

Work with property owners and developers within the identified Focus Areas to implement redevelopment and infill projects, including exploring public/private partnership opportunities where feasible, that meet the vision and goals of this plan.

Description

City staff has been very active in recruiting developers for economically distressed properties and areas throughout the City. This has led to interest in the 1st and Main Transit Area, the STEAM area, the "old" Walmart site (Hover and Nelson), north Main Street, and the Longmont Sugar Factory properties. One such facilitated project, a 250+/- apartment project at 2nd and Martin, is under construction. The Longmont Urban Renewal Authority is also facilitating an apartment project at the old Walmart site and about 100 townhouses in the same vicinity both of which may commence in late 2025 or early 2026. The City continues to pursue and facilitate redevelopment and reuse of the historic Sugar Factory buildings and surrounding properties.
