Description

Platte River Power Authority and its four owner communities continue to explore options for expanding the renewable energy portfolio, adding dispatchable battery energy storage, and improving the management of distributed energy resources (DERS) in pursuit of the City’s goal of 100% renewable electric energy by 2030 goal.

    City Roof-Mounted Community Solar

    Construction is complete on a 200kW roof-mounted solar system at the City’s Waste Services Building on Martin St and is about to be complete on a roof-mounted solar system at Ascent at Hover Crossing, a Longmont Housing Authority (LHA)/partner owned low-income multi-family development. Installations will serve as demonstration community solar and low-income solar virtual net metering projects. Contracting was completed in January 2025 and both solar systems will be energized and online by end of 2025.
