Sustainable purchasing refers to practices that incorporate the triple bottom line (environmental, social, and economic) into purchasing decisions, such as the reduction of packaging, supply-chain considerations, and targeted outreach opportunities for women, veteran, and other minority-owned and disadvantaged businesses. A sustainable purchasing policy will help ensure that sustainable practices are implemented across departments.
