Lead paragraph
Bulk purchasing electrification equipment is one model to overcome cost barriers that emphasizes community engagement and fosters community empowerment.
Collaborating with other regional stakeholders, Longmont will evaluate opportunities that arise for group-buy models similar to group solar purchasing programs, as they become available and viable. This approach assumes the availability of equipment as well as the workforce to install the equipment at scale.
The City is partnering with Solar United Neighbors and other Boulder County jurisdictions to promote the Switch Together rooftop solar group-buy offering. This program vets and contracts with specific installers and streamlines the process for getting rooftop solar. This offering was available to Longmont customers in 2025 and will continue in 2026.
City staff are coordinating with other county jurisdictions and a heat pump aggregator (SwitchTogether) to support an offering for Longmont customers that could reduce equipment costs and consolidate qualified installers in the area. A similar pilot program was deployed in 2025 by the Town of Erie and SwitchTogether that will be available in other Boulder County areas in 2026.
