Addressing consecutive systems is outside the jurisdiction of the City. City staff is constantly working to improve water quality in our potable water system and our watershed within its jurisdiction, which is detailed below.

A consecutive system is a public water system that receives, through purchase or other means, treated water from another system and distributes that water through a distribution system it owns. Consecutive systems are found in several Longmont mobile home and multi-family communities. This strategy focuses on addressing water quality and adequate monitoring of these systems to ensure all Longmont residents have access to quality drinking water.

Description

Actions to assess water quality:

  • The City develops an annual drinking water quality report and is consistently achieving compliance with Regulation 11 Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations. A copy of the 2023 drinking water quality report can be found below.

  • Although it doesn’t impact the City of Longmont directly, House Bill HB23-1257, passed this year, establishes a CDPHE-administered water testing program for mobile home parks. This program requires the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to test water quality in these parks. The City of Longmont is tracking and supporting, where possible, state efforts to improve water quality for our residents. For more information, visit the CDPHE's Mobile Home Parks page.

  • The City of Longmont actively protects the quality of public drinking water and consecutive systems through the Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control Program.
