Continue to focus on moving towards zero deaths from roadway crashes.
Vision ZeroāÆstrategies are being used around the world to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries while also increasing safe and equitable transportation options.Ā The City of Longmont adopted Vision Zero in 2023āÆwith the goal of reducing traffic deaths and severe injuries on city roadways to zero by 2040.
Fall 2024: Launched this group open to any and all community members and key stakeholders interested in Vision Zero in Longmont. This task force is intended to convene on an ongoing basis to help the City develop, implement, evaluate, and update a Vision Zero Equitable Action Plan (VZEAP-listed above) over time.
Q4 2024: The first three meetings occurred in October, November, and December.
Early & mid 2024: Staff were hired to implement Vision Zero. Currently seeking funding and identifying both internal and external key stakeholder to help develop the City's first transportation safety plan a.k.a. VZEAP.
