This strategy focuses on routine adoption and enforcement of updated building codes, with focus on the International Energy Conservation Code to address the design of energy-efficient building envelopes and installation of energy-efficient mechanical, lighting, and power systems.

The city of Longmont will adopt the 2024 ICC codes in 2025, date to be determined. the implementation of the energy codes to include more stringent requirements for electric preferred stretch codes and State of Colorado Energy Code requirements.

Building Services will present to City Council on Feb 11, to receive guidance on how to proceed and adopt the new 2024 energy codes and State energy codes and NW Cohort energy code requirements. After guidance received by City Council final adoption preparations will proceed for 2024 code adoptions.
