Create primary transportation hub at 1st and Main St.

Description

The City and Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) are working collectively to construct a public transit facility in the vicinity of 1st Avenue and Main Street incorporating commuter parking and a bus station, and that is to be "wrapped" by a privately-financed mixed use development. Being positioned at the southern end of the to be built Coffman Street Multi-Modal Transit Corridor, the facility will serve as a centralized hub for all local and regional bus services, including the planned Bus-Rapid-Transit (BRT) service between Longmont and Boulder, and support eventual RTD commuter rail service. The facility is to be designed and built to also accommodate alternative and sustainable energy infrastructure and transportation modes such as ride-share, bicycles and electric vehicles, amongst others.

5 of 6 properties necessary for the project have been acquired. Last property acquisition in negotiations with expected closing 4th Qtr. 2024. Street design underway at 30% drawings. Construction anticipated to begin 2nd Qtr. 2025. The anticipated opening for the full facility is December, 2026.
