Broader program outreach, expanded resident engagement, and more dedicated funding is needed to reach the participation goal set for this action.

This Sustainability Plan strategy combined with the CARR BE.6 strategy to Expand Low-Income Residential Efficiency Programs which set the goal of increasing the low-income residential energy efficiency program from 40 homes per year to 400 single family homes per year by 2025.

Description

Prior to 2024, the City collaborated with Energy Outreach Colorado to promote weatherization upgrades for income-qualified homes in the City of Longmont. Learn more about Colorado's Affordable Residential Energy Program (CARE) on Energy Outreach Colorado's webpage.

In 2024, to achieve the target that was set by council, the City also began collaborating with the Weatherization Assistance Program and the City's Home Rehabilitation Program to assist income-qualified residents and improve home energy efficiency.

The City also launched the Whole Home Health Program to assist income-qualified participants with electrification upgrades and further weatherization services. The Whole Home Health Program also assists participants in resource navigation, including stacking funding from multiple programs.
