This strategy focuses on increasing the rate of electric vehicle adoption until most vehicles are powered by clean electricity. Electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is crucial to encouraging EV adoption and sustaining local growth of the EV market. Incentives and mechanisms such as public EV charging sites, utility rates, development codes, fleet policies, and events and promotion activities can all help increase EV adoption.

Description

Longmont is a participating community in the implementation of the Regional Transportation Electrification Plan for Boulder County Communities, which includes a focus on increasing access to charging infrastructure.

In January 2024, Boulder County received a $4.9M grant to support the installation of charging infrastructure across the County, prioritizing under-resourced areas. Longmont is a supporting partner on this grant and will help identify sites in Longmont for charging infrastructure over the next three years.
